Debadutta Mishra


Debadutta is a seasoned management professional with over two decades of operational and leadership roles across – Pharmaceutical, Lifesciences, Private Equity and Oil and Gas industries in roles spanning incubation, growth & turnaround business phases and across major global markets and value chains. He holds a Post graduate Diploma in Management [strategy, finance & marketing] from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) and a B.Tech in Electrical Engg. from the Orissa University.

Deb leads Ishvan Pharma as its CEO and Director and works on conceiving investment ideas, screening opportunity landscape, value creation through partnership deals, overseeing operational execution and managing cross functional teams to deliver overall P&L outcomes. 

Deb worked for Bilcare Research, a global pharma packaging, research, compliance and clinical service provider, as its VP/Sr VP and member of Executive council and helmed the full-function P&L for the Emerging Markets [APAC/South Asia/MENA/LATAM]. He also headed its global corporate strategy & BD responsibility, steered an acquisition led growth strategy, spun off unprofitable units, led post-merger integration, greenfield footprint set up in China and several other virgin territories, led diversification into newer product and service lines and championed IT enablement/process transformation agenda that led to performance breakthroughs. He was also appointed as the Management Head by E&Y, Singapore for the turn around and restructuring process that he completed successfully.  

Deb worked as a Director of BD, Strategy and Commercial operations in Dr. Reddy’s Ltd.,  during an exciting and exponential growth phase across Global generics, Oncology Injectables & biosimilars, APIs and NCE businesses. He was a founding member of the Corporate development & strategy team and a member of the BD Council that prioritized and led organization wide M&As, Strategic alliances, strategic planning efforts and led new Country, Therapy, Technology platform and Channel forays. He worked on PE/VC collaborative BD deals & spin-offs, In-Licensed product portfolio creation for US/EU/RoW markets, Out Licensing & Co-development deals and mandates for entry into medical devices & newer technology platforms. In the initial years he led the Sales and Marketing teams for APIs across South Asia and South East Asian region.

At the start of his career, Deb worked for Indian Oil managing capital infrastructure projects, downstream operations & marketing roles.  He was a part of the LPG-CAP team, the OISD team, the Editorial board of the Oil Industry Operations Manual and is also a recipient of Chairman’s trophy, prestigious Innovation awards and several commendations.
